Martinelli’s is recalling a single lot of one-liter bottles of apple juice after testing revealed levels of arsenic higher than allowed by U.S. Food and Drug Administration standards.
The recall covers Martinelli’s Apple Juice in one-liter glass bottles with a “Best By” date of “09MAR2026” or “10MAR2026.” The bottles were shipped to retailers between March 13, 2023 and Sept. 27, 2023.
Sampling conducted by the Maryland Department of Health found the recalled lot of apple juice contained inorganic arsenic levels of 11.6 parts per billion.
In June of last year, the FDA updated the industry action level for inorganic arsenic in apple juice from 23 parts per billion to 10 parts per billion.
Martinelli’s said no illnesses or complaints related to the recalled lot of apple juice have been reported.
The company notified distributors and retailers including Kroger, Publix, Target, Winn-Dixie and Whole Foods to immediately discontinue distributing and selling the recalled apple juice.
